Queens' College Boat Club is the rowing club for members of Queens' College, Cambridge. QCBC was established in 1828.

QCBC accommodates rowers of all levels and currently has a large squad and crews in almost all divisions of the May Bumps. History:
In the men's Lent Bumps, the Queens' 1st VIII largely remained in the 2nd division until about 1910, when they moved up into the 1st division. With only occasional years where the 1st VIII dropped into the 2nd division, the club eventually rose to take the headship in 1968, but lost it the following year (dropping four places) and declined into the 2nd division by 1980. Since then, the form has been somewhat erratic, rising to 3rd in 1995 before plummeting into the 2nd division again by 2000. Queens' ended a good run of form in 2007, having risen back into the mid-1st division, they crashed down four places and were awarded spoons, dropping another three places the following year. The performance in the May Bumps is similar, moving from the 2nd to the 1st division in the 1910s, rising to take the headship by 1962 which it kept in 1963. The headship belonged to Queens' again in 1968. The 1st VIII then dropped into the 2nd division by the mid-1970s and, similar to the Lent Bumps, they managed to climb as high as 4th in 1997, but dropped sharply for a few years after. The current positions of the men's 1st VIII are 4th in the Lent Bumps and 7th in the May Bumps. The Queens' 1st women first appeared in 1981, and rose as high as 2nd in the Lent Bumps and 4th in the May Bumps, but have yet to take a headship in either event. The 1st women's VIII currently reside on the 6th and 13th place of the 1st division in the Lent Bumps and May Bumps, respectively.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful afternoon at the QCBC Mays Garden Party 2025! We were incredibly lucky with the weather, and the prime riverside location made for a truly memorable event to celebrate the close of a fantastic season of rowing.

A special thank you to Amy Hill, QCBC alumna and talented photographer, whose great photos captured the spirit of the day so perfectly. We’re grateful to her for snapping the above shots of our crews going past the garden party!

This event was a real team effort – from organising and setting up to running the day and clearing down afterwards – and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our incredible members and volunteers.

We’re so pleased so many of you could join us, and we hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did. Hope to see you all again next year!!

QCBC 2024-2025

And with that, our season comes to an end. Thank you to everyone who made this year so great.
Thanks to the rowers who worked so hard and accomplished so much!
A special shout out to all our wonderful coaches. From Ed, to James, Rob, Alex, Pete, Gus, Gabriel and Florence. With the addition to everyone else who helped our rowers achieve their best!
A thanks to our Captain, Christian Scott and Freya Watts. We appreciate all the work you did for us. Work that made the year run smoothly, successfully and efficiently!
To all the committee for their work.
And finally to our President, Josh Moore. Without whom so many things would not have been possible. So much of your work occurs behind the scenes and is rarely thanked, but at the end of this season, on behalf of all of QCBC, we thank you for all your hard work and commitment.

QCBC MAY BUMPS RESULTS ARE OUT! and I am proud to announce that we are a club on the up!!
This year has been such a good year for queens, with noticeable improvements and many many bumps.

Let’s talk about our men’s side: M1 going +3, M2 going +3 and our M3 also bumping! We are so immensely happy and proud of all the work the boys have does this term and we have the results to show it!

As for our women side: an arduous campaign from W1 who went +1, fighting for that bump for the first two days! W2 had two re-rows and still managed to bump and row over, showing strength and resilience. As for our W3, an extra spoon in the kitchen is always useful, and their vibes were unmatched. So proud of all the ladies in the club!

All of this would not have been possible without our wonderful coaches, so thank you to Ed, James, Alex, Peter, Gabriel, Florence and Gus

Following a fantastic set of results for Cambridge in the 2025 Boat Races, QCBC is lucky to be joined by James Robson, six seat of the Cambridge Men’s Blue Boat, at this year’s Boar’s Head Dinner on the 26th April.

James will speak about what it has meant to him to be a part of CUBC, why Cambridge rowing is special and give us some insight into what it takes to win the Boat Race.

ALUMNI ANNOUNCEMENT: You are cordially invited to attend the 38th annual dinner of the Boar's Head. The dinner is open to everyone who has rowed or coxed at Queens' and includes a three-course meal, ch*****ne, w**e, and port throughout the evening. Guests are also invited at the same cost.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible! We are also hoping to enter alumni crews into the Head of the Cam race, taking place earlier in the day before The Williams Cup. Further details can be found on the registration form.

This weekend our novices competed in Clare Novice Regatta!

We are incredibly proud of them!!🐗💚

NW2 (Griffins🦅) dominated and WON THEIR DIVISON! 💪🫶 They beat Sidney, Wolfson, Medwards and FaT.

NW1 (Pegasus🦄) won their first race against Maggie but was unfortunately beaten by Jesus in their second race. It was great to win the first race they ever raced against Maggie!

NM1 went up against Catz, they gave them a hard time but were unfortunately beaten. It was only by 1 length though, so excellent work boys!!💪🚣

NM2 reached the semi finals, beating Sidney and Hughes Hall! They were, however, disqualified in the semis after accidentally rowing into FaT- our novice races are always exciting!! They were up on FaT the entire time until the last moment! Excellent work boys!!

We are delighted to be able to invite members of our 1828 Alumni society and their guests to attend our complimentary drinks reception on the evening of the 6th December. The black tie drinks reception will be held from 7:30pm to 10:30pm in the Old Senior Combination Room alongside the club drinks event in the Old Hall where we will be celebrating the end of Michaelmas term and our (hopefully positive) results in the Fairbairn Cup.

We are fortunate to have an alumni crew racing on the 6th December alongside our senior crews W1 and M1 who would all be grateful for your support were you to want to come to the boathouse and watch the racing from the riverbank during the day. Our six novice crews will also be racing on the 5th December.

To confirm your attendance in the evening, please complete the attached from so we can cater for the right number of guests. If you happen to know other QCBC alumni who might want to attend the drinks, they are very welcome. We just ask that they become members of the 1828 society by signing up on the Queens’ College website to make an annual donation, however small, to the boat club.
