Homerton has one of the most unusual and fascinating histories of all the Cambridge Colleges. Its first premises were acquired in London in 1768 – making 2018 the 250th anniversary of Homerton’s foundation – although its origins go back to the late seventeenth century. In that time Homerton has educated alumni of considerable influence; including prominent dissenting thinkers, educationalists, politicians, and missionary explorers. We have always had strong ties to public service as well as academia. With around 600 undergraduates, 800 graduates, and 90 Fellows, it is now the largest College in terms of student numbers in Cambridge. You can also follow us on twitter:

For our Drinks Reception and Formal Hall, we’re delighted to welcome Julian George and the team of Black chefs at Th Future Plate, the House of African & Caribbean Cuisine & Culture.

Hay smoked chicken suya. Bajan fish cakes. Slow cooked pepper soup. Malva pudding with whipped Amarula cream. A menu that tells a story of heritage, craft and community, plate by plate. 🍽️

Homerton College is delighted to welcome its eleven newest Fellows, following the Fellows Swearing-In ceremony of 5th October 2026.

Professor Jane Anderson CBE, who has cared for people living with HIV since the earliest days of the epidemic in the 1980s, was sworn in as an Honorary Fellow. Meanwhile, Professor Michaela Benson, Dr Andrew Catherall-Ostler, Dr Álvaro López-Acosta, Ms Katy McCulloch, Dr Melina Seabrook, and Dr Izzy Wisher were sworn in as Fellows, while Ms Shanna Hart, Dr Jessica Patterson, and Dr Tom Scriven were sworn in as Bye-Fellows, and Professor Diego Lazzarichas an Associate Fellow.
