This year our theme is ‘sensory experiences in the ancient world’. Students will learn more about what the ancient world sounded like through beginner Latin, delve deeper into perceptions of beauty with sessions in .cambridge and much more 👀✋👂

The Faculty of Classics is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Joyce Reynolds FBA.

She was Reader Emerita in Roman Historical Epigraphy, Fellow of the British Academy, and Honorary Fellow of Newnham College, where she was Director of Studies in Classics from 1951 to 1979. She was awarded the Gold Medal of the Society of Antiquaries in 1951 and the Kenyon Medal by the British Academy in 2017.

In 2018 she was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters by the University. She was also an honorary Fellow of Somerville College, Oxford.

Last year Mary Beard created a scholarship in her name to help support students from underrepresented backgrounds to study Classics at Cambridge.
