A Festal Evensong to celebrate the restoration of the memorial to Sir John Finch and Sir Thomas Baines will take place on Sunday 7 June at 18:00 in the College Chapel.

Sir Ben Bradshaw, former MP and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport will speak at the service which will also be attended by Sir Chris Smith, Chancellor of the University.

Finch and Baines met as students at Christs and became lifelong companions. Finch described their relationship as ‘a beautiful and unbroken marriage of souls’. They are buried together in the Chapel sanctuary and the memorial was installed in 1684.

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

The UK is home to around 270 species of bees. Here at Christ’s College, we provide a diverse habitat for many of these species including the Western honeybee (apis mellifera) seen here at home in our beehives which are cared for by members of the gardening team.

We have embarked on one of our most exciting projects to date as we plan a new Library fit for the 21st century and beyond. Designed by award-winning Grafton architects, the building will provide increased study space, be fully accessible, and contribute to our long-term goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

The project is called Library+ because it will also modernise the adjacent kitchens and upgrade the dining facilities.

We intend to open the new building for the academic year 2028-29. In the meantime, students are using the Third Court Library on the ground floor of the Y Building.
