Announcing the winners of the latest round of songwriting competition Hook, Line, Lyric - run jointly by Jesus College and Cambridge University Centre for Music Performance

First prize: Tom Neale (2025) of Wolfson College with 'Inner Space Blues'.

Second prize: Anoushka Tiger Mohan Sharma (2025) of King's College, Cambridge with 'See You Again'.

Third prize: Éireann Attridge (2022) of Wolfson College with 'Anonymous'.

Sonita Alleyne, Master of Jesus College and one of the judges, said: “Cambridge continues to show an incredible depth of creative talent, and this competition is all about giving that talent the platform it deserves.

“It’s been fantastic to see how much the entries have grown and evolved this year. If you didn’t enter last time - or if you're ready to give it another go - we’d strongly encourage you to get involved in the next round.”

Congratulations to Wolfson student Tom Neale (MPhil Music), who won first prize in the Hook, Line and Lyric songwriting competition, and to Éireann Attridge (PhD Education), who made the top three 🎶

Hook, Line and Lyric is organised by Jesus College, Cambridge and the Cambridge University Centre for Music Performance to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels, and is open to students and alumni across the city's two universities. Tom's advice for aspiring songwriters? "Stay weird, put the phone down and listen to your soul." 🎧
