Join us for our upcoming event: ‘Polish Echoes in British Theatre’

When: 22 February 2024, 17:30
Where: Knox Shaw Room, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge

As the Complicité theatre company bring their unforgettable "Mnemonic" back to the National Theatre this summer, we invite you to a seminar that will explore Polish echoes in the productions of the ensemble and trace the influence of Polish experimental theatre on contemporary British theatre in general. In two talks, Tomasz Wiśniewski (University of Gdańsk) and Paul Allain (University of Kent) will discuss Complicité’s innovative productions of Bruno Schulz’s "The Street of Crocodiles" and Olga Tokarczuk in English’s "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead", as well as the extent of the impact of Jerzy Grotowski, Gardzienice Theatre Association or Song of the Goat Theatre on British theatre companies and directors.
