The Canterbury MUN Secretariat is glad to present you a new partner to our conference: MUNFrance!

This year, MUN France will be hosted by Sciences Po Lille from the 15 to 17 March in Lille, France. This conference is open to high school students and university students.

Here is a message from the Secretary General of the 2019 edition of MUN France, Billie Bell:

"The Canterbury MUN 2019 Secretariat is pleased to announce a new partnership with MUNFrance - an annual Model United Nations conference, initiated by MUNWALK Sciences Po Lille, and hosted in partnership with Sciences Po Strasbourg, the University of Tours, and the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.

The partnership aims to promote democratic debate and international negotiation, and to introduce students to the art of diplomacy. Further objectives include improving students’ level of English, their capacity to debate and negotiate international subjects, and their knowledge of the internal workings of the UN system.

The 2019 edition of MUNFrance will take place in Lille, France, from 15 to 17 March.

Divided into thematic committees, students participating in MUNFrance will represent one of the 193 UN members, defending their country’s positions during three days of debates and negotiations within the Security Council, the Historical Security Council, the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) - the latter reserved for high school students.

Applications for single delegates and group delegations are now open. Please visit https://www.munfrance.com/applications for more details."

Chair presentation (3) - EcoSoc chair : Prateek Didwani

Hi! I am 19, Indian, and currently studying Actuarial Science (Maths) at the University of Kent. Though I am studying Maths, my ever- continuing and growing interest in global politics has kept me well informed and made me a natural candidate to be involved in MUN.

My MUN Career started only last year when I joined University of Kent Model United Nations Society, and I have had the best time since. I have been to 6 + conference winning awards at 4 of them. I chaired at the previous Canterbury MUN, and can’t wait to chair this year! I hope you guys are as excited as me! See you guys soon.

Chair presentation (2) - EcoSoc Committee's chair : Dawn Chai

Hello everyone! I’m Dawn, a first year Psychology student at the University of Kent from Brunei. I’ve actively partaken in MUN conferences and two high school conferences since 2017. This will be my second time chairing.
Because of MUN, I have become a more socially responsible and educated citizen, made countless friends, and became more confident in debating, leading others and public speaking.
I also love conspiracy theories, travelling, window shopping, and spending a ridiculous amount of time browsing through Twitter & Instagram. I look forward to chairing ECOSOC and making CantMUN memorable for all of us!!

On behalf of the Secretariat and the entirety of Kent Model United Nations society we would like to thank you all for attending CanteburyMUN2018. For an inaugural conference we are extremely happy with the result.

We started with a fantastic opening ceremony in Canterbury Cathedral lodge with a thoughtful and inspiring speech from our esteemed guest speaker Dr. Carl Wright, which was then followed by 3 days of intense and positive debate from our superb delegates. It was the honour of a lifetime to provide such a magnificent experience for high school and university students alike. The entire secretariat hopes you take the lessons you learnt from CanterburyMUN and apply them to your future endeavours.

The aim of CanterburyMUN was to develop an appetite for MUN amongst high school students and based on the level of debate we saw last weekend we believe that you all have excellent futures in MUN.

Additionally, it is our pleasure to announce that the second instalment of CanterburyMUN by Kent Model United Nations Society will be taking place in 2019!

For now the Secretariat is taking a well deserved break but keep posted for new details about CanterburyMUN 2019, we will be announcing the conference date and new Secretariat in due course.

We will be uploading the official photos to this page very soon. Our magnificent photographers are working overtime to develop and edit over 6,000 photos

We also want to thank our fantastic Secretary General, Freddie Mallinson for his leadership and dedication to the conference, it certainly couldn't have happened without him. In addition, we want to pay a big thank you to the committee of Kent Model United Nations Society who helped and supported us all the way. Finally, we want to thank every individual in the secretariat for their dedication, hard work, sleepless nights and in some cases grey hair.

Lastly, the Secretariat would like to sign off for 2018. Thank you all for the fantastic journey and we look forward to seeing you next year at Kent!

Much Love, The CanterburyMUN Secretariat 2018
