Graduate spotlight - Luxshan S. - Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation 🎓
When I first started university, I wasn't even sure it was the right path for me. But my passion for anatomy and sport led me to study Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Kent, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Over the past four years, I've learned so much, not just about injury prevention, rehabilitation, biomechanics, and performance, but about myself too.
A huge thank you to all of my lecturers (Karthikeyan Muthumayandi, Dr. Dr. Claire Melanie Boucher, Sadie Jones, Georgina Dean) for their patience, support, and guidance throughout my degree. Every lesson, every conversation, and every bit of encouragement has played a part in getting me to this point. I genuinely wouldn't be here without everything you've taught me.
This degree is also a reflection of the incredible people I've met along the way. Through football, societies, placements, and simply stepping outside of my comfort zone, I've built friendships and memories that I'll carry with me for life. Canterbury has challenged me to grow in ways I never expected, and I'm leaving as a far more confident and well-rounded person than the one who arrived four years ago.
To all my friends, thank you. Thank you for the laughs, the late-night sessions, the celebrations, the setbacks, and for being there through every high and low. You all made this experience unforgettable.
Most importantly, thank you to my family. Your belief in me never wavered, even when mine did. You stood by me through every challenge, celebrated every achievement, and reminded me to keep going when things got tough. None of this would have been possible without your love and support.
This achievement means even more when I think back to where my journey began. As a young teenager, after moving to the UK without speaking a word of English, I was told that university wasn't something I'd ever achieve. Today, standing here as a graduate proves that no matter where you start, dedication, consistency, and resilience can take you further than you ever imagined.
