The Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University brings together world-leading researchers to investigate the major causes of mental health problems. We bring together clinical, genomic, statistical and bioinformatic expertise to tackle the challenges posed by psychiatric, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Our main objectives are to better understand ho
w these disorders arise, to develop new approaches to diagnosis and to identify novel treatment targets. Ultimately, we aim to become a leading centre of translational neuroscience. Our work focuses on the entire lifespan from childhood to old age, and across the boundaries of diagnoses. Our three primary research themes are:
- Psychosis and major affective disorders
- Neurodevelopmental disorders
- Neurodegenerative disorders
The centre is led by Professor James Walters. To find out more, visit our website: www.cardiff.ac.uk/cngg
