The Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies is a world-leading centre for media teaching and research. The School has been a pioneer in journalism education since 1970. It is a world renowned centre for the study of all aspects of journalism and was recently listed as one of the top ten Journalism schools for Asian students in the world. The School combines a long-standing record

of excellence in teaching and journalism training with an outstanding research portfolio – with over 40 awards from a wide range of Research Councils, Foundations, Charities and the media industry since 2001. We offer a wide range courses at various levels. Our undergraduate course in journalism, media and cultural studies is an academic, research-based degree, which can also be combined with joint degrees in English or Sociology. Our postgraduate offerings range from industry oriented, broadcast, magazine and newspaper practice-based training to more academic degrees, from Master to PhD. Our BA consistently receives excellent ratings in the National Student Surveys, while our postgraduate courses regularly win accolades. Journalism, Film and Media graduates celebrate outside the Bute Building. Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies graduates celebrate outside the Bute Building. The School's reputation for international research was recognised in the UK government's 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (an evaluation of research in UK universities that takes place every 7 years). They judged 45% of the School's research to be ‘world-leading’ and a further 30% ‘internationally excellent’, making us one of the UK's top departments in any field. No other institution in our field in the UK has achieved this level of excellence in academic teaching, postgraduate training and research. But we do not believe in excellence for its own sake: our teaching and research is grounded in a commitment to ethics, social responsibility and the importance of journalism, media and communications to a healthy democracy. The world of media and communications is constantly changing, and we are aware of the need to be responsive to new ideas and new developments. The future may be uncertain, but we want to play our part in shaping it for the better.

Pob lwc i JOMEC’s Sian Morgan Lloyd a chriw sy’n teithio i Alabama, UDA, fel rhan o’u gwaith gyda Urdd Gobaith Cymru ar ei Neges Heddwch ac Ewyllys Da 2023.
Bydd y daith yn gweld y myfyrwyr yn ymweld â Birmingham, Alabama, i ddysgu am ei hanes cyfoethog o Hawliau Sifil a dangos undod â'r gymuned Affricanaidd Americanaidd 60 mlynedd ar ôl bomio 16eg Eglwys Bedyddwyr Sant.

Good luck to JOMEC’s Sian Morgan Lloyd and the crew travelling to Alabama, USA, as part of their work with Urdd Gobaith Cymru on its 2023 Peace and Goodwill Message.
The trip will see the students visit Birmingham, Alabama, to learn about its rich Civil Rights history and show solidarity with the African American community 60 years after the bombing of the 16th St Baptist Church.

The fine line of impartiality at GB News. Check out Professor Stephen Cushion’s thread exploring GB News’ recent interview of Conservative Chancellor Jeremy Hunt by two Conservative MPs
