Cardiff University Midwifery Society exists to unite the midwives of Cardiff together, both student and qualified, by providing extra curricular events, support, study days and networking opportunities. Today is International Day of the Midwife and we are celebrating all the wonderful student midwives, midwives and lecturing team that work tirelessly every single day to provide and promote positive environments and safe and compassionate care 💞 Here are just a few of the things the student midwives from Cardiff University have told us they love about their training and the care we provide day in and day out ✨ We are proud of all the student midwives both in and outside of Cardiff University, and share pride in the effort we each make to provide the best care possible, whilst also managing assignment deadlines, placement requirements, part time work, caring responsibilities and everyday life demands! ❤️ If anyone has any positivity be shared on, please leave a comment below!

We hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! ✨We are really looking forward to our Summer Ball event, and we hope you all are too! Please take a second to fill out your dietary requirements and add in your song request to get you up on the dancefloor! 💃🪩

Our caterers will be serving pizza 🍕 We aim to cater for all dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten-free and halal options. Any allergies or dietary needs we need to clarify/adapt, we will let you know! Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Replies must be sent by June 20th in order to get these to our caterers in plenty of time.

We would love to invite you all to our annual general meeting next Wednesday at 2pm. In this meeting we will review the last year of Midsoc as well as discuss and vote for any amendments to the society such as the addition of the role of Global Majority Community Officer as well as the elections for next year's committee.

We would really love as many of you to join as possible although we do appreciate this may be hard with people on placement. The link to join has been emailed to all members and will be distributed via WhatsApp ❤️

Hi I’m Emily, the 1st year liaison officer. My role is to communicate between our cohort and other committee members to ensure everyone gets the best from Midsoc. I’m looking forward to supporting our cohort and getting together at our upcoming social and educational events.

I’m Martha, and I’m the 2nd year liaison officer. I’m excited to communicate between the 2nd years and the midsoc committee! I enjoy all aspects of midwifery but my favourite part is community working, I love building a long term connection with the women and advocating for their choices. Hi! I’m Liv, I’m the 3rd year liaison officer.
My role allows me to facilitate communication between the cohort and the society to help us all get the best out of our time as MidSoc members.
I am looking forward to being a committee member and being a part of lots of fun events. I love postnatal care and empowering parents to feel confident caring for their baby. I love meeting other student midwives in placement so please say hi if you see me :)

Heyyy everyone! I’m Riley and I’m really excited to be your new Social Secretary for the Midwifery Society 🤍

I chose midwifery because I love working with women and being part of such an important time in their lives — but I also know how intense this course can be. Between placements, lectures, and deadlines, it’s easy to forget to switch off.

My aim this year is to create fun, relaxed, and inclusive socials where we can unwind, laugh, and enjoy time together without any pressure. I want our events to feel like a genuine break and a chance to build community outside of uni and placement.

Hi everyone, I’m Clara and I’m Vice President of the Midwifery Society for this year 🌸

I chose to enter the midwifery profession because I wanted to make a meaningful change in women’s health, providing high-quality and compassionate care. Since starting this course, I’ve been challenged in ways I never imagined — but every step of the journey has been worth it. As a midwife, you can make a genuine and lasting difference to women and birthing people, and this is what truly motivates me.
I’m passionate about advocating for student midwives and creating a supportive, inclusive space for all. Please always feel free to drop me an email if there’s anything we can do to improve your experience while completing your training.
