If you want to take your passion for journalism and media even further whilst inculcating it in your own uni experience, then you should consider yourself as a committee member in the Journalism Society for 2021.
Nominations for committee member elections are now open! First years to Post graduates can apply but you must be a member to nominate yourself. Choose from 7 posts that need to be filled

Don't forget to submit a manifesto introducing yourself and why you'll be the best for the position. This will allow other society members to make the right decision!

We here at Jomec aim to bring happiness to everyone! If you're a fresher still figuring out how to get around the building or if you're one of our old students looking for a bit of fun- we are ready for everyone.
This is the first of many, 'HAPPY HOUR' virtual socials. For this one, we're gonna tickle your brain with a fun and silly quiz over zoom and the punishment for getting a question wrong? DRINK UP! (Alcoholic drinks aren't a must).

Unfortunately, we are still trying to work with the SU with regards to the refund issue. We promise that we will give you any updates that come to us, as on the committee, we are also wanting these refunds back as much as members do. Any further updates will be issued here. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

We’ve understandably been receiving a lot of messages with regards to refunds for the previously cancelled JOMEC Ball and have decided to issue one update for everyone.

Earlier this month, the SU took away our access to society finances with the end of the academic year and therefore, we still have not reached a conclusion on a refund date as yet. Please be assured that we are working with the SU and Jurys Inn to have this issue resolved as soon as we possibly can.

We apologise and empathise with everyone’s frustration (as the whole committee is waiting on refunds as well!) - any updates will be issued from our public social media channels as soon as we receive any news.

🚨 Important information regarding refunds for the Journalism Ball:

We have been in contact with Jurys Inn regarding the situation with refunds. Due to the majority of staff being furloughed and the quantity of events that the company has to process refunds for, they have extended their refund timeframe.

Unfortunately, this means the refunds will take up to another 30 days to be paid. The hotel realises that this has been a lengthy process but they are doing everything they can to handle the refunds accordingly.

If there is any update, we will update you on these social channels as soon as possible.
