Interested in a teaching career? We’d love you to apply for a PGCE starting in September 2027. CSA won’t exist after this school year, but our schools in Carlisle and its environs will continue to work with One Cumbria to provide a terrific training programme. We have a long track record of seeing local trainees getting jobs in local schools. See the One Cumbria or Trinity websites for details or contact Sarah Marchant/Dave Medley ([email protected])([email protected]).

A beautiful day for a Lead Mentor to be out visiting trainees/mentors at our Penrith schools. It’s that time of year when first visits are made to schools, to see how trainees are settling in. Great to see folk at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Penrith , Ullswater Community College and Trinity School - A Church of England Academy today.

The induction fortnight is complete for our new cohort of trainees. Lots of preliminary info and prep worked through, with a splendidly collaborative group of trainees. On to first school placements next week!
Recruitment for Sep 27 opens in the first week of October. 😃

A warm welcome to our new cohort of PGCE trainees, who (along with fellow One Cumbria trainees) began their induction fortnight on Wednesday. A busy year lies ahead! The recruitment window for September 2027’s cohort opens in the first week of October.

We're amid the final Lead Mentor Visits to trainees in schools now. Our cohort have made great progress from their tentative steps as teachers in September to the confident classroom "presences" they now have. Thanks to all Mentors in school for the guidance & support!🙌 One CumbriaSheffield Hallam University

A big thanks to The Nelson Thomlinson School for hosting the first of this week’s ITAP days. Ros Morley and Rebecca Galley led a really interesting day on disciplinary literacy, followed up on Tuesday with our deliberate practice work to utilise the strategies and concepts encountered.
