University of Gloucestershire - School of Computing and Engineering

University of Gloucestershire - School of Computing and Engineering 🎮 Game Technologies – where creativity and innovation level up. 🚀

Four courses, one future: Games Art, Games Programming, Games Design, Games Development.

Together, we’re shaping the next generation of play. Staff within the Department work closely with local industry and government institutions to ensure we are able to provide students courses that are relevant and current and therefore give a good platform for employment. Students have many opportunities to work on ‘live’ projects for external clients and so gain real-world experience, whilst they

study for a Degree. In addition, students can undertake an optional one-year paid placement through our 4-year sandwich degree, which will greatly enhance their employment prospects.

🎮✨ Girls in Gaming — It’s Time to Even the Playing Field

Half the world plays games — but only a fraction of those creating them are women. At the University of Gloucestershire, we’re working to change that.

Our Game Technology and Game Development courses are built to empower every creative and technical mind — because innovation thrives on diversity.

From coding and design to storytelling and sound, there’s space (and need!) for more women to shape the future of gaming.

👾 Whether you’re just starting out or already building your own worlds — your ideas, your voice, and your vision matter here.

💬 Let’s close the gap and create a gaming industry that truly represents everyone who plays.

Hi my name is Kai! I am a Level 6 Games Design student and I love working with VR, and was proud to come first place in our University 2021 Game Jam!
This year I've enjoyed modding in levels for Insurgency: Sandstorm and Half-Life Alyx for level design studies as well as creating a first person sword fighting game, and a skateboard inspired hoverboarding game, as part of my advanced group project.
I've also worked on more serious VR projects, such as a physiotherapy game prototype for patients with cerebral palsy and, currently, a handgun safety training experience.
I occasionally post my stuff on LinkedIn, which you can view here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kai-ismay-3869251

Downhill Jam is a hoverboard time trial stunt game, developed by Chad Lads, a team of 4 Designers (and 3 awesome Level 5s!) that are passionate about creating a lighthearted, but challenging game.
Get down the city streets as quickly as possible, popping ollies, grinding and avoiding traffic, to get the highest possible score and beat other skaters.
We look forward to publishing our demo at COMX 2021, and hope to include an online scoreboard for the virtual event.

Hey! My name is Emily, and I am a 3d Artist specialising in 3D Environments and character design. Over previous years I have focused my time developing my skills with building up environments or creating props for environments, however this year I have taken to developing my skills in 2D and 3D character design. I love horror and rhythm games; however, I use my downtime to draw and read thriller books.
I am team leader of the group Bit By Bit for Advanced Group Project, where I have developed the concepts for the player and enemy characters as well as developing the player character and one of the enemy characters in 3D.
My other assignments have been challenging me in different ways, with exploring character design workflows, and understanding perspectives when developing environments. These assignments have also required me to work closely to a reference, with different art styles and different levels of realism.

Fight for survival, in the up-and-coming project Critter Carnage.
The Bit-By-Bit team are hard at work bringing the characters and environment to life for this fast-paced
multiplayer, maze game inspired by the classic Pac-Man series!
Jump into the garden as your very own ladybird, with the task of collecting the most seeds. But be careful, Boris the Beetle might be around the corner ready to unleash his devastating charge attack!
Nowhere is safe with Synthia the Spider, so keep an eye where you walk and be ready to fight or you may become the victim of a deadly ambush. And you will regret it if you underestimate Sid the Snail.
He is constantly on the prowl, searching for the biggest horde of seeds.
But your biggest danger comes in the form of your fellow ladybirds, who want nothing but to take all the seeds for themselves! You better keep running! You cannot hide!
