Just wanted to make a little post to say goodbye and good luck to every single student, past, present and future.
Nearly 9 years ago I started as a dance teacher at New College Swindon, having been a student there myself, I knew what an amazing place it was but I can honestly say that my expectations were exceeded.
Countless shows, countless competitions, a global pandemic and a college merger and one thing remained the same; amazingly talented students and incredible colleagues.
Some of you went on to become professionals, some of you work in the industry in different ways, some of you dance for fun and some of you have never looked at a jazz shoe again after leaving but I am proud of every single one of you. ( Apologies if I didn't manage to find a picture of you to put up - I think we can agree I have taught a lot of groups over the last 9 years.)
I am incredibly lucky to have worked with such amazing young people, although I hereby apologise for my famous catchphrase 'its a little bit faster than that with the music.'
It was a hard decision to leave because it is such an incredible job, an opportunity to be creative every single day and to work with young people who are categorically nuts but also kind and funny and hard working and talented. Being the Programme Lead of the dance department was one of my greatest achievements and joys and I cannot wait to come back next year and see what you have achieved on that time.
