Welcome to the official page for the 5th Annual Student Archaeology Conference.

This years theme is ‘The Public Archaeology of Treasure” and our conference will explore how public archaeologists foster education and engagement with ‘treasure’, as well as critically evaluating treasure-related misconceptions, abuses, and both unethical and illegal practices.

The conference will incorporate presentations from the University of Chester final year archaeology students exploring key controversial dimensions of the public archaeology of treasure. In particular, this conference proposes whether or not ‘treasure’ focused practices and narratives should be simply challenged and countered.

Our conference takes place at the Grosvenor Museum, Chester on Friday 31st January 2020. Registration will open at 9.00 for a 9.30 start and the conference will come to a close by 16.30.
