Has been an absolute joy this week dusting off the sewing machines and opening the space up for the community sewing workshops. Everyone had a chance to try out the different machines from the wonderful manual Singer machine to the heavyweight industrialised beasts!! Such an amazing group of people coming through the door and I can finally see how this may all work!! Still desperately seeking models, support and motivated creatives who would like to be involved but I've taken a major step towards achieving the goal of engaging the community in sustainable fashion 😍

Great night at the Tendring4Growth business awards. I got a highly commended certificate for Innovation in Sustainability. So wonderful to be surrounded by such interesting and inspiring people. There's some good folk out there doing amazing things. So grateful for all the support I've had to get me this position. Funny that they used an old logo showing that I was still remade in LS6!! Most surreal. Never have I wanted to ring my mum so badly as tonight.

So excited to have started the first of the Passion for Fashion workshops in the shop. So good to be working with people drawn from the refugee and local community, just round the corner from where I grew up. Could sense parts of the old me coming back as I showed them my clothes, we discussed design ideas, played around with fabric, spoke of the perils of the fashion system and ran through different sewing options. My dreams of the space becoming a creative hub one step closer to realisation.

Turned a pile of leather offcuts from the manufacture of firemen's gloves into a jacket today. Been a long time in the making and a right labour of love. Pleased with the results tho. It's got a good slouch...

Then we have the project for you...........

Starting in October Ketchup Clothes and local designers will be delivering a series of free workshops that will guide you through the process of designing and making an upcycled outfit that you will wear at a Fashion Show at the Princes Theatre, Clacton, 6 March 2025.

You will be given all the resources you need so come try your hand at becoming an Eco Fashion Designer and see if we can solve our clothing and textile waste dilemmas.
