StudentSpringboard

StudentSpringboard Expert careers consultancy and coaching for teens and young adults approaching completion of their 'A' levels or degree studies.

Choosing degree courses/university, early career planning, Personal Statements, CV's, interviews, Apprenticeships and more! I set up StudentSpringboard in 2016 having left the corporate world of student recruitment, and in response to meeting (and helping) a number of students who were approaching major education or career milestones. Some were selecting Universities and courses or considering alt

ernative paths such as Degree Apprenticeships, others were writing their first CV, approaching internships and graduate job interviews - to name a few examples. I found that despite being academically successful, and having received some careers advice at school or university, many still lacked clarity and confidence about their future path. With over 22 years’ experience of managing several blue-chip student/graduate recruitment departments (thus understanding the employers perspective), extensive experience of working with students at all ages and stages, and a genuine passion for helping them make and achieve the right education and early career choices - I have a unique blend of skills to help them:

- Fully explore their options and make important further education and 'early career' choices
- Effectively prepare for applications, interviews and assessment centres (school, university and employment)
- Increase their confidence and success in all aspects of the selection and application process

Why do bright, capable young people sometimes find big decisions so overwhelming?

A level choices, university courses, apprenticeships, careers…these decisions can feel huge when you’re still working out who you are and what suits you.

In my latest blog, I explore why young people can find these choices so tricky and why the aim shouldn’t be to make the “perfect” decision, but to find a sensible starting point.
A helpful read for parents and students navigating next steps.

Final year and no job yet? You’re not behind.

There are still opportunities out there, the key is having a clear, focused approach. Refine your strategy, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to start anywhere. Your first job is just a step, not your whole story.

“I’ve applied for nearly 100 jobs and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.”

That’s how a recent client opened our first session.

First-class Economics graduate.
Confident, articulate, well prepared.
Yet rejection after rejection.

The problem wasn’t ability, it was fit.

In today’s graduate market with AI screening, automated tests and one-way video interviews, resilience is being tested like never before. But resilience isn’t just about enduring rejection. It’s about learning, recalibrating and choosing a path that genuinely aligns with who you are.

As we move into 2026, resilience feels more important than ever. Not because things are getting easier but because young people deserve better support to navigate them.

I’ve written more about this, and what I’m seeing behind the scenes, in my latest blog.

Resilience: my word for 2025✨

Navigating today’s job market is tough with hundreds of applications, AI screenings, complex tests, and endless rejections. But resilience isn’t just bouncing back, it’s knowing yourself, applying strategically, and moving forward with confidence.
Guiding students through this process reminds me that with the right support and clarity, setbacks become stepping stones, not roadblocks.

Get in touch if you’re looking for support with job applications.
