Essex Interdisciplinary Studies Our courses are interdisciplinary and have a global focus.

Welcome to the page for University of Essex Interdisciplinary Studies, part of the School of Philosophical, Historical, and Interdisciplinary Studies (PHAIS). You study across our University's subject areas, including politics, sociology, history, philosophy, literature, art history, and languages, according to your interests. The flexibility and range of our courses enable you to develop

a unique and wide-ranging perspective on your studies. All of our courses feature interdisciplinary core modules taught by multiple lecturers from different departments. Optional modules allow you to customise your degree by selecting from different subject areas from across the University. American (US) Studies, European Studies and Latin American Studies allow you to learn about a particular region from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Liberal Arts, our most flexible course, lets you curate a degree tailor-made to your interests and strengths. With our newest courses; BA Social Change and BA Global Studies, you can explore the challenges facing our world from a global perspective.

FILM SCREENING - 9 FEBRUARY, 6:00pm, Lakeside Theatre

Join us tomorrow for a screening of X Trillion (https://www.xtrillionfilm.com), a documentary that follows an all-women team of scientists, engineers, and educators as they sail 3,000 miles across the North Pacific Ocean to carry out cutting edge microplastics research and investigate the crisis of plastic pollution.

Followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, Eleanor Church, and a reception at Art Exchange for the PHAIS community.
