The various contexts in which film and television product is produced and consumed are an integral part of study in the first two years. The final year expands study into areas of factual and experimental film and television through the development of research based study. Course lecturers are working practitioners in a variety of areas of the professional media production and education industries. In year one of the programme students will study the following modules: • Understanding Audience Theory in Context • Earning a Living in the Film and TV Industries • Introduction to Digital Film Production Skills • Introduction to Digital Editing Techniques • Script to Screen (Action Research Project)
In year two of the programme students will study the following modules: • Marketing and Distribution in Context • Investigating Professional Practice • Applying Digital Film Production Skills • Foley and Sound Design • Collaborative Production Project
In year three of the programme students will study the following modules: • The Digital Generation • Entering Employment • Experimental Cinema • Factual Programming • Final Major Project

Students will learn practical skills in camera and lighting, editing and sound techniques are developed through collaborative and individually produced short films. Productions in each year provide continuous development of creative abilities from scriptwriting to production to marketing and distribution. Professional practices and employment skills are covered throughout the course to provide a solid foundation for entry into industry. Although this is a new degree programme, our previous degree and diploma students have been employed in the industry as production assistants, junior video editors, film & TV studio technicians, teachers, content creators for YouTube, working for film festivals and arts facilities, and many are working as freelancers in camera, lighting, sound, directing, editing, visual effects and some run their own video production companies.
