The Essex MBA recently hosted a Business Partnership and Networking event at The Innovation Centre, Knowledge Gateway where a selection of companies attended to connect university and MBA colleagues with industry partners, new and existing.
Companies in attendance included Sona Insurance, The Contrarian Group, RevWise, Colchester City Council, RAQM Advisory, Six Sided Dice, Relocon t/a The Weave, Kesgrave Cars, Yolo.IT and ParentPay Group.
The aims of the event were to provide these businesses the opportunity to network with our MBA cohort, explore opportunities for future collaborations such as the MBA consultancy project. Consultancy projects link our MBAs with organisations to work on real-world issues, specific to the business they are paired with. This gives students the chance to gain valuable consultancy experience, whilst benefitting from a practical opportunity to conduct research and analysis
The Essex MBA also partners with such external companies through the Director's Workshops. These offer our students a unique, practical insight into project management and allows them to simulate the experience outside of the taught environment.
Guests were able to enjoy a panel of speakers including:
• James Fowler, MBA Director, Essex Business School, University of Essex – The purpose of the MBA projects
• Rob Schatten, KTP Manager, University of Essex – The University’s KTP opportunities
• Reza Bakhtiary, MBA, Beng, Essex Business School Alumni 2025, Product Manager at ParentPay Group – An MBA’s personal experience
• Rob Thacker, CEO at Sona Insurance – An employer’s personal experience
Following these insightful presentations, guests enjoyed a networking session over lunch.
Thanks to all those who attended, we’re looking forward to seeing some great future business collaborations and relationships take fruition!
