Sustainability isn't just something we teach. It's part of who we are. 🌿

At Essex Business School, sustainability shapes the way we learn, research and engage with the world around us.

From fostering responsible leadership to exploring solutions to global challenges, we're committed to creating positive impact through business education and research.

That commitment is reflected in our home, the UK's first zero-carbon business school building, where sustainable design and innovative thinking come together to support an inspiring environment for learning and collaboration.

Because preparing future business leaders means more than understanding sustainability. It means embedding it into the way we think, act and lead.

What if sustainability wasn’t something you taught… but something you built?

At Essex Business School, we started with the environment our students learn in.

🏢 The UK’s first zero-carbon business school building
🌿 A living winter garden creating its own microclimate
🌱 Green roofs and natural systems embedded into the design
🌞 Solar energy, natural light, and low-carbon technologies reducing emissions daily

This isn’t symbolic.

It’s structural.

Our building saves over one tonne of carbon per day through its design and technology.

Because responsible business isn’t just theory.

It’s something you experience, question, and apply, every day.

🌍 This Earth Day, explore how we built sustainability into the foundations of business education:
