Ulster University Coleraine Karate

Ulster University Coleraine Karate Join and train with a 7th Dan Black Belt instructor, sensei McCullagh. Both beginner and advanced l Thinking of joining? Already a member?

“Do not pretend to be a great master and don’t try to show off your strength.”

When you join up, you take a stake in the club, you make it YOUR club and we want you to take part! Maybe you didn’t know that, at over 25 years old, the UUC Karate Club is one of the longest running clubs in the University; Sensei McCullagh opened the UUC Shotokan Karate Club in 1979 and has been the Chief Instructor

since that time. Club is one of the longest running clubs in the University. That sort of longevity doesn’t just happen – sure, there are the people that give up their time to teach the class, and the administrators that make things there are the people that give up their time to teach the class, and the administrators that make things happen behind the scenes so it’s possible for you to train, but most of all there are the club members……that’s YOU! We want you to get involved! Want to suggest some improvements? Have an idea for a fundraiser? (We always need ideas for fundraisers!) Let us know. The most important thing that you can bring to the club (other than yourself….and maybe a friend or two!) is your support – whether it’s a pub quiz, a club night out, a birthday bash, a few pints after training (after a shower!) or a charity event – all we ask is that you do your best, and make the effort to be part of the club. Training usually begins with a warm up led by the sensei or a senior student; the training session itself is generally divided into three sections: kihon or “basics”, kumite or “sparring”, and kata (forms or patterns of moves).
