The Engineering and Computing Ring (or eco) is a faculty wide association set up by students, for students. Our main aim is to work alongside the already successful societies, both SU and individual, to make life at Coventry University the best it can be for EC students. We have a substantial budget from our faculty dean, an office for the eco executive panel and backing from other societies, whic
h can all be shared with the students. If you want to put on an event with a guest speaker, eco can use its links with industry/academics/engineers without borders etc to get you that speaker, get you a location, get some sponsored food and advertise your event. We will also be setting up an informal mentoring scheme, with no staff input. Research has shown that students learn 80% of course material from each other, we want to exploit that, one idea is to produce “cheat sheets” for every course (a document with all of the relevant equations/terminology)
We will also be putting on faculty wide social events, want to go paintballing/high wiring etc.? The budget we have is for YOU, the students, so if the Aerospace Association want to go to the Paris Air show, for example, we can subsidise that. There is so much that eco can do for students and we are still growing, next year is going to be an exciting year for EC students, we want you to be a part of it.
