Transdisciplinarity is at the heart of our teaching, learning, and research in Global Sustainable Development. Global challenges spill over disciplinary boundaries, and our unique academic home reflects this. Based in the School for Cross-faculty Studies, our staff and students have genuine opportunities to transcend disciplinary boundaries, creating new knowledge about the world we live in.

Hi all! We are back today with another Monday Muse. Here we have a recommendation from the Global Sustainable Development department’s Jenny Abington.

If you want even more inspiration, we recommend browsing our previous Monday Muse Posts and finding something that speaks to you.

Jenny’s thoughts:

“The incredible acts of determination and bravery of these women in Iran in this week’s episode of the FT podcast have inspired me. They remind us all that the fight for womens’ rights and freedom across the world has not yet been won, and they shall continue to inspire us all to fight for what we believe in (Gender Equality, UN Sustainable Development Goal, 5).”

As part of their core 'Global Challenges and Transdisciplinary Responses' module led by Dr Jess Savage, they were asked to think about soil characterisation in the lab and in the field 💭

Thanks as always to Dr Rob Lillywhite, our resident soil expert from the School of Life Sciences!

In June, staff from across University of Warwick were invited to attend the University's inaugural Inclusion Conference.

Two of our students, Naomi Carter and Sophie Kitching, presented at the conference on the important topics of combatting menstrual stigma to enhance wellbeing and inclusive teaching for autistic and neurodivergent students. We spoke with Naomi and Sophie about their work and their experiences of the conference.

Are you starting your undergraduate studies with us soon? If so, we recommend you check out Harry's 'Tips for incoming first-year GSD students' blog post!

"My advice is to be a sponge, accept new ideas and concepts before coming to your own conclusion whether you think that concept is strong."

Honestly, I can’t believe I am about to begin my 3rd and final year as a Warwick GSD student. The last 2 years have flown past before I’ve even been able to fully take in the ups and downs of my unforgettable university experience, and here I am now, 3 weeks away from the ‘last dance’. So in...

We join with so many other communities across the world in expressing our sorrow at the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Like many universities, the University of Warwick was granted its Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1965 by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and our flags are at half-mast to pay our respects and honour her memory.
