Where better to explore the luxury industry than in one of the fashion capitals of the world – Milan✨👜

A week studying with SDA Bocconi School of Management left MSc student Avinaash with 3 key takeaways:

🌟 Luxury is driven as much by culture, storytelling and emotional connection as it is by the physical product

🇮🇹 Italian business culture places a distinctive emphasis on craft, heritage and the willingness to think in decades rather than quarters

⏳ The brands that endure are those that give people something to genuinely believe in, not just something to buy

The learning didn’t stop at lectures. During the trip the group participated in company visits – from Ca’ del Bosco in Franciacorta, where hearing about the philosophy of winemaking reframed Avinaash's thoughts about value and patience as genuine strategic choices, to discovering the six centuries of uncompromising craftsmanship at Duomo di Milano, which made long-term thinking feel less like a business concept and more like a cultural instinct.

The experience was rounded off with a visit to Ferrari’s showroom and a day trip to Lake Como ☀️

“Being in Milan itself added a dimension that no classroom could replicate; the city made it easy to see how deeply design, aesthetics and a certain idea of quality are woven into everyday Italian life.”
