At the University of Derby we will stretch, challenge and support you to achieve your ambitions. Outstanding teaching from industry experts in first-class facilities will ensure you develop all the right skills for the workplace of the future. And we use our strong industry links to help you apply your learning with practical experience in real work situations. Our main campus is in Derby and has four sites: Kedleston Road, Markeaton Street, Britannia Mill and One Friar Gate Square. There’s also our Enterprise Centre where some of our professional courses are taught. Some of our Nursing courses are also taught in Chesterfield, 30 miles from Derby. Our Chesterfield site is a Centre of Excellence for Health and offers superb hi-tech facilities, including an NHS-standard six-bed mock ward and Immersive Interactive Simulation Suite which replicates emergency scenarios.

The Cavendish Building has won a Special Recognition Award for its contribution to the region at the East Midlands Property Awards 🏆

It is only the sixth time that the judging panel has chosen to confer this award in the 26-year anniversary of the awards 👏

Judges stated that The Cavendish Building was a ‘complex construction project’ that had ‘created an impressive landmark facility’. They added that ‘what it brings to the city and region is unique.’

From Derby to Fiji… what an adventure! 🌴

Our Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation students Thurza, Katie and Anastasia spent almost a month in Fiji with Think Pacific this sumer, getting involved in sports coaching and activities in local schools and communities.

Along the way, they developed skills that will support their future careers, from communication and teamwork to working with people from different backgrounds.

Thurza said: “The village immersion was our favourite part by far. The families were so welcoming and happy to host us.

“We developed our social skills and our ability to work and engage with many different people, from local children to village elders – skills we can take forward into our practice as sports therapists.

“We had the best time ever!” 💙

Did you know our students can do placements abroad? 🤩🌍

Architecture student, Catalina Lazar, has just returned from a year in LA working at AkarStudios 🌴

When asked about her experience, she said: ''My placement year in Los Angeles has been one of the biggest learning experiences of my time at university.

“Working at AkarStudios in Santa Monica gave me the opportunity to experience architecture beyond the classroom and discover different areas of the industry, from architecture and interior design to visualisation, graphics, branding, millwork and more.

"If you’re considering a placement year, my advice would be to go for it because you never know where it might take you.''

Since returning, she has been given the opportunity to continue working with the studio remotely from the UK alongside her studies.

We are proud to have raised the Pan-African flag at our Kedleston Road site today to celebrate the theme of Honouring Our Communities for 2026.

The flag will be flying throughout October and recognises the individuals whose everyday contributions shape, support and sustain Black life across the United Kingdom.
