Today it was the turn of our students from Limavady and Greystone campuses.

What an effort by the 40 students from Lisneal College who worked with NWRC on a project for Volunteering.
Each pupil completed a total of 14 hours of activity, participating in a combination of classroom-based learning, outdoor team-building and practical community volunteering.

Activities included:
• The North West Volunteer centre
• Team Building and Outdoor Pursuits with NWRC Sports students
• Volunteering at the Restore Hub at Lisnagelvin
• Volunteering at the gardens at St Columb’s Park House.

Students from both NWRC and Lisneal College were presented with certificates by the Mayor at a volunteering celebration event hosted by the North West Volunteer Centre in the Guildhall.

Well done everyone – and thanks to Derry City & Strabane District Council and PEACEPLUS who supported the initiative through Inspire, Enthuse, and Equip.

Today it was the turn of our students from Strand Road and Springtown campus to receive their Best in Further Education awards.
Well done to our students from the Faculty of Engineering, Construction & Sustainability, Faculty of Life & Healthcare Sciences, Faculty of Business, Media & Technology, & Faculty of Creative, Performing Arts & Therapies who received their awards today.
A great day to celebrate the achievements of our students who are making their own paths.

A great first day for our Best in FE celebrations and this morning it was the turn of Strabane campus.
Well done to all the students who received awards for outstanding academic performance, communication, overcoming adversity, resilience, supported peers, and going above and beyond.
A special mention also to the staff at Strabane campus who play such an important role in supporting our students.
Tomorrow we do it all over again at Strand Road campus with the final event in Limavady on Thursday.

It’s a big week at NWRC.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the first day of our Best in Further Education celebrations – and we kick off the week of events at our Strabane Campus.
On Wednesday we celebrate our students from Strand Road and Springtown – and on Thursday it’s the turn of our students from Limavady and Greystone Campuses.
Best in FE is one of the highlights of the year – and for good reason. From outstanding academic performance to remarkable personal growth, our awards shine a light on students who have overcome adversity, shown resilience, supported their peers, and gone above and beyond in their learning journeys.

TRAINEESHIP/APPRENTICESHIP LEARNER OF THE YEAR FINALIST!

NWRC student, Katie McCool has been shortlisted for the Traineeship/Apprenticeship Learner of the Year at the OCN Learning Endeavour Awards taking place on June 23rd at the Titanic Belfast🌟

Katie studies the Business Admin Traineeship at our Strand Road campus and was nominated for her hard work throughout the programme.

What an incredible evening at the FE Excellence Awards 2026!

It was a privilege to come together with colleges from across the NI Further Education sector to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our learners and staff.

From Traineeships and Apprenticeships to Lifelong Learning and Higher Education, the awards showcased the talent, dedication and impact that define our sector.
