The LIPA WP team will be running an exciting FREE eight-week Saturday Arts club for Year 9, 10 and 11 students at LIPA, led by LIPA graduate and production designer, Laura Lomax, and supported by LIPA design students.
Each week will cover a different art, design, or construction topic, themed around a well-known artist/style, with the intention of helping participants to develop further skills and create work which can be used for portfolio purposes.
Topics covered will include: fabric weaving (Claude Monet); 3D paper collage (Gustav Klimt); metal embossing (Vincent Van Gogh); UV mask making (Frida Kahlo); mobile making (Alexander Calder); model boxes (Salvador Dali); willow lanterns (Piet Mondrian). On the final week, participants will set up and light an exhibition and display their work from across the project for parents/supporters.
Sessions will take place between 10.15am and 12.45pm on Saturday mornings at LIPA, starting from Saturday 25th February and running weekly until 29th April (except for a two-week gap over the Easter break: no sessions on 8th or 15th April).
