Clough JLOL 124 proudly stands with Portadown District.

The media would have you believe that Drumcree is alien to our young members, an echo of a bygone era which means little to a generation born long after the dispute began.

Nothing could be further from how we see it.

Drumcree matters because the principles at its heart still matter. Freedom of assembly, religious expression and Christian worship are fundamental to the Orange tradition and to what we seek to pass on to the next generation.

When an unelected quango can determine that Orangemen should not proceed along a particular route, the issue goes far beyond one parade or one road. It sends a message to another generation about where and when their faith and culture are considered acceptable.

That is why Drumcree matters to our young members.

We will not raise a generation of young Orangemen to believe that their Institution should be hidden away, apologised for or treated as something belonging to the past.

The Orange Institution is something we are proud of. It represents our Reformed Christian faith, our culture, our heritage and traditions handed faithfully from one generation to the next.

Drumcree is therefore about much more than a road. It is about ensuring that the next generation grows up confident in who they are, proud of their faith and proud of the Institution to which they belong.

We will teach our children to respect others, but we will never teach them to be ashamed of being Orange.

Not now. Not ever.

Thanks to Ballykilbeg LOL 1040 and Bro. Rooney for hosting Clough JLOL 124 this evening.

The Juniors enjoyed a great presentation on William Johnston of Ballykilbeg, learning about his stand for the right to parade and how he was even imprisoned for his beliefs.

A good reminder too that our Orange Institution is something precious, worth protecting and passing on to the next generation.

We also wish Ballykilbeg LOL 1040 every success as they begin the renovation of their hall.

Thanks again for the welcome, treats, goodies, juice tea and snacks, wonderful hospitality.

A terrific day out today with Rathfriland Junior District No. 3.

Our trip included viewing the impressive arches at Sandy Row and the Shankill, a fascinating tour of Clifton Street Orange Hall, lunch at Carrickfergus Rangers Club (many thanks to Cheryl Brownlee for the warm hospitality), before finishing the day with a visit to Carrickfergus Castle.

A sincere thank you to everyone who helped organise and host the visit. Most importantly, the boys had a fantastic day, creating memories and learning more about our history and heritage together.

A terrific day was had by all from Clough JLOL No. 124 at Killyleagh on the Twelfth.

A sincere thank you to our parent lodge once again giving each of the boys £5, and to The Thirsty Herd for generously providing everyone with a complimentary breakfast. Your kindness and continued support are greatly appreciated.

It was a fantastic day of fellowship, tradition and pride. 🇬🇧

To see my British brethren, all of honour and of fame,
And to tell them of my forefathers, who fought in days of yore,
That I might have the right to wear the sash my father wore.

Packed hall in Clough Orange Hall tonight for our Battle of the Somme presentation with historian Quincey Dougan.

It was encouraging to see such a strong turnout from across the community, with people of all ages coming together to learn more about the sacrifice, courage and service of those who fought on the Somme, particularly the men of the 36th (Ulster) Division.

A sincere thank you to Quincey for delivering an informative and engaging presentation, and to everyone who attended and supported the event. Events like this help ensure that the stories and lessons of the Somme are passed on to future generations.
