These rabbits are around 5 months old and have been rehomed through Scottish SPCA

SRUC Barony attended this year’s The Cumberland Show, where we received a warm welcome from visitors and exhibitors alike.

It was fantastic to reconnect with former students who stopped by the stand and to showcase the wide range of opportunities available at SRUC. A big thank you to everyone who came along to chat with the team and find out more about studying at one of our campuses.

Outdoor learning can have a huge impact on children’s confidence, wellbeing and development.

Spending time outdoors encourages creativity, communication, resilience and problem solving, while helping children build a stronger connection with nature. It can also support mental wellbeing and create more engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

The Forest and Outdoor Learning Award at SRUC Barony is designed for teachers, nursery practitioners and anyone passionate about outdoor education. Students develop practical skills and the confidence to lead meaningful outdoor learning experiences.

Last week we had a sunny day to plant our under film maize trial in the student plot field. Beckie from Corteva Agriscience supplied the seed and recorded the trial and Ewan from Drew Watson Agri kindly supplied the drill and expertise to plant it.

We shall monitor its growth over the summer and next intake of students will get involved in its harvest.
