It's that time of year again (where has the time gone!!) where we are looking to recruit some new society members!
As many of the current committee are 3rd/4th years, we are looking to see if any individuals would be interested in running the society from 2023/24. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership and teamworking skills, whilst earning a qualification on your HEAR transcript (which looks great to employers!). The committee roles open are as follows:
President: responsible for the overseeing and running of the society and its general activities whilst also ensuring that the society abides by the regulations set out by Abertay Student association
Secretary: responsible for taking notes at all society meetings and assisting the committee in relevant administration (AGMs, general and committee)
Treasurer: responsible for the society's accounts and financial activities.
Nb: Additional roles may become available however the requirement for these roles will be deliberated by the elected President, Treasurer and Secretary.
The aims of our society (if you haven't already seen them) are detailed below. These may be slightly subject to change based on the requirements of the new committee.
The Abertay Biomedical Science Society aims to provide members with information regarding placement and job opportunities, professional
progression pathways, the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and course-specific assistance.
We also endeavour to generate a platform for students to share resources in the hopes of increasing awareness of the various academic/ career routes each student may undertake. The society hopes to host a range of social events as well including but not limited to: charity fundraisers; question and answer sessions; social dances; movie nights and society congregations.
The AGM (meeting where committee members will be elected) will take place on the 5th of April at 12pm - if you wish to express your interest in being a committee member or attending online, please message us! See you there!

We're hosting a pizza party next friday at 7pm, come along for pizza and music and some midterm relaxation and socialisation 🍕

This time of year can get stressful and taking breaks is important. This will be a chilled night for all ABMSS members to have a chance for some time off surrounded by others in the same uni boat🛥️

We will be back to hosting our weekly study sessions this term starting this Thursday 9th! 🧬📚

Our study sessions will be alternating each week in order to allow all students to be able to attend. We will have snacks, teas and coffees. Feel free to come along for any assignment/lecture help, any queries about your modules or for time to study with your peers👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Hello!

Hello and Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a peaceful break away from university and are feeling refreshed for the semester ahead of us.

The ABMSS is holding a coffee afternoon involving snacks, games and lots of social interaction! This will take place in the Aroma cafe in the Old College, and offers a great opportunity for Applied Students (and those interested in this route) to get to know each other a bit more before placement starts, and even ask questions to some previous placement students.

The date is the 20th of January, from 2-4pm. We hope to see you all there!
