The challenge of going online for work has lead to new opportunities for our User Centre groups (https://buff.ly/2UJBmdd). Our Straight Talking Group will present at this year's (online) Communication Matters Conference (https://buff.ly/2U9kQ6b) about their journey on Zoom and how it can be possible for people with complex physical disabilities who use AAC.

People reveal how technology has helped or hindered them during the pandemic, using .

What an exciting night! Still enjoying the thrill of being on national telly :) Did you manage to get tickets for the night or did you catch up on TV?

This year we come from V&A Dundee, where we hear about the region's pivotal role in video games, drink water from a pollution-sucking car and have a visit fr...

Thanks for sharing, Elaine! Indeed Alan Mcgregor still is a valued colleague and integral part of our AAC Research Group at University of Dundee. Just 2 years ago I (Rolf) was fortunate enough to co-present with him at the ISAAC International conference in Australia on his life story and music (we pretended to be Island Discs from the BBC...)

Two of Dundee city's finest

Disability Sport Fife is proud to recognise two members of Dundee City Disability Sport among its many friends. Danny Furey from Dundee and Alan McGregor from Glamis are Paralympic Games medalists and outstanding ambassadors for Tayside, Scotland and Great Britain.

Danny often competed in the colours of Dundee Hawkhill Harriers and was one of the last international athletes to compete on the track at a Paralympic Games as a wheelchair foot pusher. I was privileged to witness that great occasion over 200 metres when Danny secured a top three finish. Sadly wheelchair foot pushers with cerebral palsy lost their event after the Games in Seoul in 1988. The international movement lost an amazing spectator sport and athletes with similar profiles were deprived of the opportunity to compete in wheelchair track events thereafter.

Alan McGregor swam in the S2 class and enjoyed many close encounters with Jim Anderson from Broxburn at local. national and international level. At the height of their swimming careers they were ranked top three by the IPC and CPISRA. Remarkable that Scotland could produce two such amazing swimmers in the S2 class which is reserved for Para swimmers with very severe physical impairments. As well as being a Paralympic Games medalist Alan wrote his own electronic music and collaborated with the University of Dundee to improve communication for individuals with severe and complex needs. Rarely without a smile and despite having the challenge of no speech, Alan is always one of the most interesting athletes to spend time with.
