Thanks again to 11 EOD&S Regiment Royal Logistics Corps for their on-campus lecture and explosives demonstration at Barry Buddon Training Area involving everything from small explosives to the big ‘Hollywood boom’! 💥

We are very proud of the long standing collaboration we have with 11 EOD&S to provide this unique experience for our students to support their learning about explosives and how bomb disposal and forensics work together.

Has it really been 6 months since we last posted on here?! 😮

Well, we are back - with a BANG! 💥Check this out!

Yesterday, our 3rd and 4th year forensic science students received their much anticipated guest lecture on bomb disposal from 11 EOD, followed by a trip to Barry Buddon Training Area to observe live detonations and get hands on with the bomb disposal kit including the robot, suits and CBRN respirators.

We are very proud of the long-standing collaboration we have with 11 EOD and the unique expertise they bring to the forensic science course to support student learning on explosives, explosions and how bomb disposal and forensics work together.

The 3rd year forensic science students completed one of their body fluid practical classes this morning which included exploring the two presumptive tests for blood - KM and LMG.

Conclusion: lots of things produce a false positive!

Literally one of our more colourful practicals!

Great to have in-person campus practical classes back this term! Today we let a group of 1st year forensic science students loose in the crime scene house for their first search and recovery scenario after learning the basics over the last fortnight.

Everyone demonstrated great packaging, labelling, swabbing and trace evidence recovery skills - keep up the good work everyone!

See the next groups on Thursday!
