US Open bound 🇺🇸

After winning all three qualifying matches in straight sets and beating the 11th seed on the way, Team Durham aluma Gabriela Knutson has booked her place in the US Open main draw 🎾

During her time at Durham, she:
🏆 Won BUCS Individuals (2020–21)
🥉 Finished 3rd in BUCS Doubles (2021–22)
🥉 Finished 3rd in BUCS Individuals (2021–22)
⭐ Served as Tennis Coordinator
🏅 Named Team Durham Sportswoman of the Year

Since graduating from Durham University, Gabby has gone on to compete on the WTA Tour and will now start her campaign this weekend at the US Open!

From representing to representing herself on one of the biggest stages in tennis - we couldn’t be prouder!

Just a reminder that we are looking two student interns to join our team as either a Content Creator or Videographer 👀

Whether you’re into videography, editing, social media, storytelling or coming up with the next big idea, this is your chance to get hands-on experience creating content around sport, students and university life 📸

✨ Content Creator – create short-form content to bring Team Durham to life across our social channels.

🎬 Videographer – capture the action, create video content and tell the stories behind Team Durham.

Both roles are 7 hours per week during term time for 1 year, giving you the opportunity to build your portfolio and develop real-world marketing skills.

We’re looking for two creative minds to join our marketing team this academic year!

🎥 Videographer - capturing the action, people and stories behind Team Durham through high-quality video.
📱 Content Creator - creating social-first content, spotting trends and bringing our sporting community to life across our social media platforms.

Both part time roles offer the chance to work across live sport, events and campaigns while building your creative portfolio and gaining real-world experience.

Each role is expected to work approximately 7-10 hours per week across term time, is open to current Durham students and applications will close on 21.08.26 💜

One chapter closes, and another begins 💜

Today marks the final day of Sophie Underwood’s time as Team Durham President, and what a year it’s been!

Sophie has brought so much energy, passion and personality to the role. We couldn’t let her final day pass without saying a huge thank you for everything she’s done for ⚡️

Tomorrow, Peter Kennedy officially takes the reins as our 2026/27 President.
