Navi received an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law from us in 2007, and she’s a former chair of Durham Law School's Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice.

🔭 Europe’s largest solar telescope has reached a major milestone, and we're helping make it a reality.

The European Solar Telescope - EST has achieved ESFRI Landmark status, recognising its progress towards construction and scientific ambition.

Researchers in our Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Durham Physics will help develop adaptive optics technology to produce high-res images of the sun.

This will improve our understanding of solar activity and help scientists better predict potentially disruptive solar flares.

A breakthrough powered by the Durham-hosted COSMA supercomputer has revealed a previously unknown class of ancient star system 🖥️🌠

High-resolution simulations uncovered a new type of object called a "globular-cluster-like dwarf", offering fresh opportunities to study dark matter and stars born in the the early Universe.

Durham Physics researchers also helped solve a centuries-old mystery surrounding globular clusters, some of the oldest and densest collections of stars in the cosmos.
