How do research projects combine multiple fields and what does this mean for the researcher?

How do you navigate balancing wellbeing and mental health with postgrad and early career research?

These were some of the crucial topics explored at Castle’s Interdisciplinary Research Workshop this week, organised by Belén Mattos Castañeda and Prof Rebecca Clifford with support from Castle SCR. It was a supportive, open atmosphere where intellectual curiosity was celebrated and the challenges of research supported.

Last week, we welcomed students to the latest edition of our Fireside Chat series for a fascinating conversation between Professor Colleen Batey and Sw****ka Paudel. From archaeology and excavation to curation, research and public engagement, the discussion offered valuable insight into the many paths within the heritage sector.

What if the spaces we walk past every day became places to connect, create and imagine together?

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to welcome local and regional creatives to Fellows’ Garden for a morning of curiosity, conversation and collaboration as part of Wild Imagining, a project encouraging communities across Durham to reimagine local green spaces through creativity.

From theatre and film to storytelling and shared ideas, it was inspiring to explore the possibilities these spaces can hold. We can’t wait to see the creative collaborations that grow from here!
