Durham Developmental Group Based at the Psychology Dept at Durham Uni & offering the opportunity to participate in our research! Participating is fun for the children, but also very safe.

The developmental group at Durham University work with parents and children to help understand key questions in children’s cognitive development. As a thriving research group we investigate a variety of exciting areas, such as how children develop sensorimotor skills, their ability to navigate space and avoid obstacles, as well as how they develop social and emotional skills. We work with children

from infancy all the way through to adulthood. When children take part in any of the projects they are always fun and in the form of a game. It is also a great way for children to learn about science. Alongside this, it provides valuable results in research devoted to understanding children’s cognitive development. If you would like more information about how you and your family can get involved, please do not hesitate to contact us. 📢 Durham University is looking for children aged 8–11 to take part in a study on maths & spatial abilities 🧠✨
🔢 What will they do? Maths tasks, spatial tasks, & brain games. These are the very last few timeslots for this study before we wrap up data collection.
📅 When? We have slots after school and on weekends!

NEW STUDY - Social media use and the potential restrictions - the views of neurodivergent young people and their parents….

This new study examines the views of parents and young people with lived experience of neurodivergence via living with autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome or Williams Syndrome. We focus on current social media use and the new proposed online safety measures in the UK. This is a timely and important issue and we want to ensure the views of neurodivergent young people and their families are heard.

There are separate surveys for parents and young people - please do complete this survey if you have a child aged 12-16 years who meets the criteria above and please also encourage your child to also complete the survey so their voice is heard:

🧠 We're looking for children aged 7–11 to take part in a study using VR and motion capture — they'll get to control virtual reality bodies with their own movements and play some fun games!

⏱️ The whole session takes only 30–45 minutes.
📅 Available during May half-term (from 26th May), weekdays 9:00–17:00.
📍 Sessions held at the Psychology Department, Durham University.

We are running a study about stress and trauma in autistic adults. We want to learn more about people’s experiences so we can develop a questionnaire and create helpful guidance for services. Taking part involves completing an online survey that takes about 15 minutes. You can do this on your own or with help from someone you trust. You can also choose to take part in an interview later, but this is completely optional.

We are inviting autistic adults aged 18+. If you prefer different ways of getting information, we have two links to the same survey: one with written information and one with a video explanation. You are welcome to choose whichever format works best for you. Links in the image and in the comments below
