Alex comes from an arable farm in East Lothian and chose a local livestock farm for his placement. Alex carried out day-to-day husbandry tasks on beef cattle and sheep. He also assisted in drafting out store lambs for the market, as well as undertaking some routine tasks such as redirecting electric fencing.

This is Thomas. Thomas has a wide range of agricultural skills. He did his placement on a 600-acre farm in Penrith, Cumbria. The farm has a milking herd of 350 Friesian x Holstein cows, producing around 13,700 litres of milk per cow per year. While Thomas was on his placement, his task was mainly spreading slurry on the farm, as this was the main job to be done. You will often see Thomas over the weekend mucking in and helping the staff.
