Help us name our peregrine falcon chicks 🦅

Our three fluffy peregrine chicks have won the hearts of students, colleagues, alumni and those in our local community - where we’ve heard several schools have been using our live stream as a learning aid.

Before they fly the nest later in the summer, we think it would be nice to give some names – a legacy of their time at Royal Holloway.

So, now’s your time to get creative…

The trio of names can be based on whatever you like: history, celebrities, TV characters, family members, local geography, characteristics of the birds etc. We have 2 x females and 1 x male chick.

The deadline for entry is midnight on Tuesday 30 June. The research team looking after our peregrine live stream will review the entries and a poll of shortlisted trios will be posted for a final vote on the Royal Holloway Peregrines YouTube channel early in July.

Character in all corners of campus 🏛️

There's much more to explore on campus beyond our iconic red-brick Founder's building.

The Boilerhouse for instance, with its iconic duo of chimneys and dramatic industrial spaces, is almost like a cooler, edgier younger sibling.

Once the generator of heat and power for the entire university, it's now home to lectures, seminars, a music recording studio, a 'found' theatre and concert space, and a popular place to stop for coffee or matcha.

Earlier this month, colleagues gathered at our Egham campus for our annual University of Sanctuary Symposium. This was an opportunity to hear and read the moving stories of displaced members of our University community, past and present, and discuss ways in which a University of Sanctuary like ours could continue to be a place of safety, support and solidarity for refugees.

Such meaningful conversations on real lived experiences play a vital role in helping to shape our future as a University of Social Purpose.
