• Nestots Nursery: A modern purpose-built day care facility with 52 for children aged between 3 months and 5 years.

• Learning Resource Centre (LRC): We have a purpose built Learning Resources Centre (LRC) where you can use computers, borrow books, DVDs and videos, photocopy and scan, and where you can get assistance to bind your essays and
projects. The study facilities cater for different styles of learning and include, group work, quiet study and silent study. Resources in the LRC include:
• Approximately 31,000 books, 3,000 ebooks and 1000 DVDs
• Around 100 print journal titles, with access to several hundred more via
internet subscription
• 74 internet-connected, open access PCs
• Wireless to use either a College laptop or your own laptop or netbook
• Web access to the library catalogue and other online resources
• A shop where you can purchase textbooks and stationery

May has been all about community and collaboration 🤝

From attending the launch of SECTEC in Parliament, to putting wellbeing first with college wide mental health awareness activities and fundraising.

Massive shout out to all the Nescot staff who walked 15miles in the Banham Marsden March 👣 and to special guests from Epsom College and Epsom Mosque who came along to our Wellbeing walk.

On your marks...get set...bake!

Nescot was delighted to host the annual SurreyFE SEND Bake-off competition, last week, bringing together talented student bakers from Activate Learning, Brooklands Technical College, East Surrey College and North East Surrey College of Technology.

Each team whisked, folded and piped their way through the three hour challenge, working in pairs on a themed brief to create spectacular showstoppers, and we’re glad to confirm there wasn’t a ‘soggy bottom’ in sight!

🥇First place was awarded to Jamie and Bradley from East Surrey College with their cake inspired by one of their classmates hobbies: gardening

🥈Second place went to Orla and Daisy from Nescot with their sunset inspired cake

🥉Third place went to Matthew and Callum from Brooklands Technical College, for their creative interpretation of the ‘Magic of Nature’ theme

🏅And fourth place went to George and Katie from Activate Learning with their Minecraft inspired cake

🙏Massive thank you to all the teaching and support staff, all the students who took part on the day and back in college, as well all our judges: Emma and Louise from Include.org and Sue Stockman from LinkAble. The judges commented on how hugely impressed they were with everything from the preparation, time management, to the baking and decorating.

And finally, a special shout out to Slavina and her team at Nescot for putting on such a fantastic event 💜

Every student did themselves and their colleges proud. The creativity on display proves once again that SurreyFE students are the real showstoppers, and we can’t wait to see what they cook up again next year!

A great day for our JFS Nescot Football Academy at Fulham FC ⚽

Our Football Academy Manager Jack, recently took the squad to Fulham FC Official for a friendly fixture and a behind‑the‑scenes Q&A, giving players a real insight into life at an elite club.

A big thank you to Alessandro, Fulham’s Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach, for sharing his expertise, offering a look into elite athlete preparation, and talking openly about his journey into strength and conditioning coaching.

Experiences like this help our players build confidence, knowledge and ambition, both on and off the pitch.

Our carpentry students recently completed seven motorised computer desks for local charity Sight for Surrey 💜

The project gave students the opportunity to apply their practical skills to a real world brief and see how their work can make a difference in their local community. Students all showed fantastic teamwork and professional standards throughout 💪

Celebrating Rhubarb: Our Nescot Superstar 🐾

Last week, Zoe Brown, Rhubarb's owner and trainer, joined three students, Sunshine, Kitty and Rebecca and our CEO and Principal Julie Kapsalis MBE, to represent our college assistance dog Rhubarb at the National School Dog Alliance - NSDA awards at the UK House of Lords

While this year's overall award winner was Sunshine, we're incredibly proud of Rhubarb’s recognition as a finalist in the School Dog of the Year 2026 and the positive impact dogs like him make to student wellbeing and college life.

For the last four years, Rhubarb's quiet and calm temperament, combined with his high degree of training, has allowed students to soak up some of his zen. He's been particularly impactful in times of exam stress, bereavement, social anxiety, as well as helping pupils overcoming their fear of dogs. He also brings learning to life, helping pupils with revision using his giant dice, choice cards and even applying his scent training to sniff out the right answers.

Rhubarb’s development is supported by Nic Martin, a highly experienced dog trainer, with who Zoe undertakes termly reviews and training to ensure Rhubarb’s needs are being met as well as the students.

A massive thank you to Zoe for her dedication, expertise and care. As Rhubarb’s owner, trainer and handler, she has played a crucial role in developing his skills and ensuring he can make such a meaningful impact across the college. Thank you!

Nescot Plumbing Student Shines at HIP Magazine Learner of the Year National Finals 🎉

Jason, one of our talented plumbing apprentices, was awarded the prestigious title of Regional Winner in the HiP Plumbing Learner of the Year competition. Jason travelled to Barnsley to compete in the National Finals, showcasing his skills alongside the best young plumbers from across the country.

Although Jason didn't secure the overall national title this time, Jason's journey speaks for itself. He's shown exceptional technical ability, professionalism, and dedication throughout the competition, representing both his employer and Nescot to an extremely high standard. Jason’s commitment and enthusiasm were evident to all, and he has set a fantastic example for his peers 👏

At Nescot, we believe in helping every student find their path, build real skills and grow in confidence. Jason's success shows exactly what that looks like in action and we're extremely proud of Jason and his achievements.

We'd also like to recognise his tutor, Tony Day, whose guidance and support have played a key role in Jason’s development and journey.
