Level 3 Public Services and Sports students had an amazing week at Mendip Activity Centre.

Over four days the students challenged themselves through rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, dry slope skiing, shooting and helping each other round an assault course. A huge thank you to the team at Mendip Activity Centre who were fantastic and to our Nescot staff for organising such valuable experiences for our students.

Back closer to home, students visited The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, with many trying skiing for the very first time. For some, it’s sparked a new interest they’re keen to carry on with!

These experiences help students build confidence, resilience and teamwork in ways you simply can’t replicate indoors, pushing them outside their comfort zone and helping them grow as individuals.

As Armed Forces Day approaches, it’s a timely reminder of the values these experiences develop: commitment, teamwork, leadership and self belief.

We’re incredibly proud of our Public Services students, Jamie and Hannah, who stepped out of their comfort zone to represent Nescot at a recent Parliament event 💫

Alongside their tutor Liam, they attended the Connecting the Constituency event hosted by MP Helen Maguire for Epsom & Ewell at the Houses of Parliament.

Bringing together over 100 local charities, businesses, schools and organisations from across Epsom and Ewell, the event gave students the opportunity to see how public service, leadership and collaboration come together in the real world.

Liam was extremely proud of how Jamie and Hannah represented both the college and the wider community. Their confidence, engagement and dedication on the day reflected the values and skills Nescot aims to nurture in the next generation across Ashtead, Leatherhead, Epsom and Ewell.

Experiences like this help students build confidence beyond the classroom and start to see where their future could take them.

While many of us were enjoying the Nescot Summer Fair, George and our Motorsport students were back on track at Silverstone for the third race of the Student Motorsport season 🏁

The team finished 8th in the first race and 6th in the second, at one of the most iconic circuits in the world, despite the car underperforming in straight line speed.

Now, it's back to year-end assessments and a full engine rebuild ahead of the next race at Croft Circuit on 11–12 July.

George couldn’t be prouder as the students are really coming together and becoming a fantastic race team 💪🏎️

What a brilliant day we had at Nescot’s Summer Fair on Saturday! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who made it so special: our amazing students, dedicated staff, inspiring local charities, fantastic retailers, and everyone who came along to join the fun 💜

A special shout out to J&B's Barkery - Dog Treats for providing all the prizes for the Dog Show 🐾

We were also delighted to welcome Mrs Neelam Dharni Devesher MBE DL, appointed as His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, who joined our Principal, Julie Kapsalis MBE to officially open the Nescot Summer Fair and mark the start of such a special community event.

It was fantastic to see our campus come alive and truly showcase the strength of our community with everyone contributing to such a positive and inclusive atmosphere 💫

We loved every minute and can't wait for next year!

The Derby Festival community spirit was alive and kicking and our students were right at the heart of it! 🏇

Thank you to the The Jockey Club and Epsom Downs Racecourse, for opening the door for Nescot students to be part of one of the UK’s most iconic sporting events - they certainly brought the energy to the brand new community zone initiative.

🎭 Performing Arts students wowed crowds with an Alice in Wonderland-inspired flash mob in the Community Zone

🎶 Music students kept the atmosphere buzzing with live bands and DJ sets

🎥Our Creative Media department captured all the action from The Hill, creating reels and content throughout the festival

💄 Hair & Beauty students hosted a hair and beauty pop-up and created incredible stage make-up looks for our performers on the day

We’re so proud to see our students connecting with the local community, gaining hands-on experience and creating unforgettable experiences💜

Nescot Foundation students turned wellbeing champions and community heroes 💫

They challenged themselves to complete a wellbeing walk which lasted over 90 minutes. A fantastic achievement, which thanks to sponsorship from the students friends and family, raised £256 for Tough Talk and the YMCA, supporting vital mental health and wellbeing services 💚

They also put kindness into action by creating mental health wellbeing packs and handing them out alongside bunches of flowers to local residents. Many were so moved by the gesture, that they took the time to email to share the impact this act of kindness had on them 💜

This is what learning looks like beyond the classroom: building confidence, encouraging healthy choices and making a real difference to others 💜
