Meet Exeter MSc FAFM alumnus, Zwe! He’s from our 2022 cohort and has kindly shared how his recent time spent studying our programme here at the University of Exeter Business School helped him on his journey. 🌟

Zwe is the co-founder of the leading e-commerce company in Namibia, Chommie Bites. He’s noted that his time with us helped build both his confidence and capability, so he can walk into any financial room knowing he could perform. 📈

We take great pride in the high level of employability students gain from Exeter MSc FAFM, and it’s so inspiring to see when this is taken to such high levels. Zwe truly is using finance for good to help the people of Namibia and make a positive impact. 🌍

It was time for us to give our Class of 2023 students their University of Exeter Business School hoodies! ✨

These came in branded tote bags, with pens, books, a teddy bear, a water bottle and more. 😊

Do you ever feel as though your mind immediately goes to competition over collaboration? You’re not alone. University of Exeter Leadership Fellow Justin Featherstone helped our MSc FAFM students open their eyes to new ways of thinking. 👀

He gave them a puzzle to solve as teams, but never once said they couldn’t work as a whole class. Students quickly realised they needed to focus on their freedom to work as one, rather than their restrictions to only work in a segmented way. 🧩

Building on soft skills is a key part of our programme. Our students have high job prospects, and with sessions like these, we help them to shine even more in the job market. 💼

Thank you, James, for sharing your expertise in compassionate and purposeful leadership, and teaching our students how crucial collaboration is! 🤝

Our new MSc FAFM students were immersed in the world of accounting, thanks to the brilliant Colour Accounting workshop, led by David Kolitz and Maeve Kolitz. 🎨

Accounting can be a complex topic, so the session is built to take out any unnecessary complication and replace it with simple language and hands-on techniques. Students were learning through colour coding and diagrams, which they had a lot of fun with! 😊

We take pride in the fact our programme has so many exciting opportunities for students to enrich their knowledge and are thankful to the many lecturers and guests like David and Maeve who help our students shine and stand out in the financial sector. ✨

Yesterday we welcomed the Class of 2023 Exeter MSc FAFM students! 👋

Guided by Employability and Careers Consultant Rachel from our Career Zone they went on a scavenger hunt to get to know both each other and our campus better. 😊

Students had to complete challenges such as finding certain locations and taking photos that represent their hobbies. 💧

It was great to see them all chatting and having fun as they explored Exeter Business School. The team to find the most items even won a box of chocolates! 🍫

Thank you to our wonderful new students for making our first day so fantastic. And to our graduates – we miss you already! Do you remember your first days on campus? 😊

Take a look at these moments from our annual MSc Finance Alumni and Student Summer Conference - hosted by Programme Director Dr Jane Shen and jointly organised by the MSc FAFM Programme and Business School Alumni teams. ⭐

We began the day by hearing from recent Exeter MSc FAFM graduates. They shared their top tips on navigating careers, such as doing things in your free time to make you stand out, staying connected with your fellow students to build a network, and remembering to take breaks. ☀

Our second seminar was an insightful talk from Freddie Fuller, a professional working for . He spoke on the topics of sustainability and ESG investing – two very relevant areas in the current financial world. 💰

Then, after a barbecue lunch in the sun, it was time for an innovative session from Dr Caitlin Kight, Manager of Academic Development and Skills. She guided students through a workshop using LEGO to build responses to questions, such as what’s your dream career? 🧱

For our final seminar, we had guest panellists Graham Bishop from Handelsbanken, Nick Kings from Fidelity International, and David Luck from Numis. They discussed investment outlooks in a post-Covid-19 world – a very relevant topic for students to consider as they begin their career journeys. 🌍

We’ve got something to cheer you up this grey Monday – our MSc Financial Analysis and Fund Management students celebrating the end of their exams! 🥳

Last week, they got together to de-stress from a busy exam period. Studying is of course very important, but so is having fun and relaxing, especially after they’ve all worked so hard. 🥂

Good luck to everyone still doing their exams currently, and a big congratulations to our FAFM students and anyone else who has finished theirs. 🎉

Earth Day is a great reminder of the importance of sustainability, including in the finance world. When making investment decisions, it’s important to keep the protection of our planet in mind. 💰
