Have your say in Civic Engagement at the University of Exeter!

The University of Exeter Community Panel is helping to embed the broader community voice in the University's Civic Engagement activities.

The Panel comprises local residents who help us to identify local issues, challenges and opportunities and provides a community perspective on university plans and activities. The Panel also offers objective opinions on ideas, initiatives and partnerships and helps us set priorities for, and review Community Fund applications.

The Panel is Chaired by the University’s Senior Vice President, Registrar and Secretary, and meets three times a year, usually from 6-8pm in a City Centre or University venue. Members from across the city are compensated for their time in line with the University’s Participant Payment Policy.

This month, the University of Exeter will be bringing a pop-up talk with researcher, Dr Rebecca Sandover, alongside Martyn Bragg from Shillingford Organics, Carolyn Dare from Resources Futures and Community Action Group, Harriet Bell from Riverford Organic Farmers, and Jenny Archard from Devon Communities Together.

We're excited to be taking part in the launch of First Thursdays on Exeter's Gandy Street next week!

The 4th June will see the street transformed with live music, performances, speciality food and drink, and late-night shopping from local businesses.

Come along and join us from 5pm at Exeter Phoenix for short talks from University of Exeter researchers, and a special live music performance from DJ Dr Doom!

Flora Hemming, from our Department of Psychology will be sharing her talk 'Why is it so easy for you and so hard for me?!', an insightful exploration of executive function, and cultivating the empathy that helps us understand one another's brains. Dr James D**e, from the Department of Geography, is joining us for 'Is there intelligent life on Earth?', a powerful discussion of the climate crisis.
