Bee-Elephant Enterprise Project

Bee-Elephant Enterprise Project We equip rural Kenyan communities with beehive fences, reducing elephant conflict and empowering hive-product entrepreneurship.

Problem:
Frequent clashes between elephants and rural farmers in Africa has led to retaliatory killings of many elephant individuals and negatively impacted local livelihoods through the loss of crop yields. Solution:
Innovative fences incorporating the African honey bee have shown to halt elephant crop raids. Proposal:
Implement a self-sustaining project to introduce beehive fences to small subsi

stence farming plots in rural Kenya to reduce conflict between African elephants and people. Goal:
Through entrepreneurial action provide farmers and communities with the knowledge and practical skills to increase their income via bee-keeping and protect their livelihoods by reducing human-elephant conflict with beehive fences thus minimising retaliatory elephant killings.
