✨Graduate Spotlight✨  Meet recent BA(Hons) Illustration graduate deb!✭:
 
“I’m a freelance illustrator and Falmouth Illustration graduate with a love for creating artwork inspired by music, film, books and places I feel connected to, especially Falmouth!
 
My practice combines digital illustration with traditional techniques, including lino and risograph printing, coloured pencil and mixed media. I love experimenting with bold, limited colour palettes and expressive linework, bringing my illustrations to life across everything from album artwork and book covers to posters and merchandise.
 
Alongside freelance projects, I sell my artwork and illustrated T-shirts through my Etsy shop, and I’m excited to continue developing my practice and exploring new creative opportunities!”

From making spec commercials to being shortlisted for the New Unsigned Director at the Young Arrows Awards, meet BA(Hons) Film graduate Connor Pearson. 🎥🏆 During his final year at Falmouth, Connor wanted to find out if commercial directing was for him, so he began creating spec commercials: adverts created without a client or commission. He realised it was something he enjoyed and continued building a portfolio.

Since graduating, Connor worked on short films but kept looking for brands that would be interested in collaborating. Now he is shortlisted for New Unsigned Director at the Young Arrows Awards for Break the Chain, a campaign for jewellery and garment maker JCD that shows a real side of skating.

From Degree Show to New Blood Emerging Art Prize nomination. 🤩 BA(Hons) Drawing graduate Matthew Amos displayed his work, a series of six paintings: Welcome to the Neighbourhood, at Falmouth’s end of year degree show. A visitor was struck by the quality of his work, the saturated colour palette and quasi-sculptural quality of the paintings, which led him to receiving a New Blood Emerging Art Prize nomination.

Matthew says “The series of paintings explore a suburban neighbourhood in Reading where I grew up, with the paintings highlighting the visual language of suburbia and finding beauty within what’s typically seen as a boring, mundane environment.”

BA(Hons) Sustainable Product Design graduate Lottie Waterhouse has recently been shortlisted for the New Furniture Maker Awards 2026 for her design project, EduFlex. EduFlex is a series of children’s seating which she credits as having grown out of studying in a creative environment that encouraged her to experiment and find real solutions.

Having started out as a university project, her design has since been recognised at an award-finalist level, has interested local schools and been discussed with Queen Camilla.
