"It really is no exaggeration to say that we would be not have been able to make serious progress with our Grant idea without this funding. It was crucial. We really appreciate the fact that this funding has supported the more speculative type of work that we needed to do - it was an incentive to creativity." 🌿

By bringing together collaborators from History, Education, Health Sciences and Environment and Geography, this project highlights how YESI supports creative and speculative research at the University of York. 🌱

How do we build resilience to protect our communities from rising heatwaves and drought? 🌍

This morning our YESI Director Professor Lindsay Stringer joined the Voice of Islam Breakfast show to discuss global water security and extreme weather. It was a wonderful opportunity to share how researchers at the University of York are working together across different subjects to tackle some of the most urgent challenges of our time.

During her interview she highlighted the devastating impact of rising temperatures on agricultural systems and vulnerable communities worldwide. Finding sustainable solutions requires deep collaboration to ensure we can safeguard soil health and water availability for everyone.

Here is what they discussed:
πŸŽ™οΈ Insights on how heatwaves impact our global water availability
🌱 The critical need to preserve soil health in changing climates
🀝 Interdisciplinary solutions for sustainable water management
