***OPENING TIMES, WEEK 07-12 April***

We are still opening 9am to 5pm during this week, but there's still the option to book a STUDY ROOM, or to go directly to the OLD JCR after closure. This room in college has been RESERVED for quiet study for library users, and will remain so until our normal opening hours resume.

***FRIENDLY REMINDER***

We are closing the library over the Easter Weekend, from 3rd of April to 6th April INCLUSIVE. Here are some ideas of what you can do instead:

* Enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
* Discover the Cambridge LIDO (or use the pool onsite)
* Visit that one Museum in Cambridge you haven't been to yet.
* Walk to Ely.
* Do a short film session of your favourite director for your friends.
* Start journaling.

Of course, if none of the above suits, and you need a quiet indoor place to work, remember that our STUDY ROOMS (bookeable) and OLD JCR (drop-in, from 5pm on Thursday to 9am on Tuesday) are still available.

Happy Easter from the Girton Library Team.

Welcome to the second part of our guide to Girton Library Spaces.

PART TWO: "I like some background noise (but still no talking!)". Well, where could we possibly go for that? Here you go:

• Go to the Library IT Area
• Or go to the Beanbags zone

Please remember that, even in these areas, no talking/chatting/working collaboratively is allowed. Tune in tomorrow for Part III, where we will cover all the places where you can do exactly that.

Enjoy the Beanbags,

The Girton Library Team

Looking for your ideal study space in Girton? Here are some suggestions:

PART ONE: "I like to work in silence"

• Sit upstairs in the Library
• Find a table downstairs in the Library (either at the back or at the individual desks between the shelves)
• Book a quiet study room (Middle or Top Chapel)
• Work in the Extension - NB the WIFI connection can be sporadic!

How to book a Middle Chapel Study Room? Go to our aptly-named LibGuide "GIRTON STUDY ROOMS BOOKINGS": https://libguides.cam.ac.uk/GirtonStudyRoomBookings

Tune in tomorrow for Part II of "How to Choose a Working Space at Girton College Library: The Definitive Guide", for the "I like some background noise, (but still no talking!)" instalment.

Happy Working in Silence,

The Girton Library Team

***Focus and Reflective Writing Session - OPEN TO ALL COLLEGE MEMBERS***

Come and and join us in our drop-in/no-booking MINI-WRITING RETREATS.

Next meeting will take place on FRIDAY 27 February, and this time we will be meeting in the beautiful RECEPTION ROOM at Girton College (Picture 1 + Picture 2; copyright Girton College), 9:30-12:30 (come for a biscuit, leave in time for lunch!)

What? You haven't heard of our regular sessions for focused, structured, quiet writing time? We've been shouting about them in the Girton College Weekly Newsletter... Just scrawl half-way down (Picture 3).

Who are these mini-retreats for? ALL college members.
What can you make use of the time for? Almost anything: writing, editing, polishing; journaling, reflecting; come up with ideas; or simply have some quiet, thinking time. These free-forms drop-ins are relaxed and informal, and all levels, all projects, all college members, are welcome to attend.

Fancy a biscuit and a bit of quiet time in the company of other creative members of your college? We will be getting together for this writing between 9:30 and 12:30, stopping in time for lunch. Join us at any point during the morning, for an hour, the whole session, or just a bit of quiet time.

Offered by the Library in collaboration with the Girton Skills Programme .
