See below the Foreword for the 2017/18 SLR edition, by the Right Honourable Donald Findlay QC;
"It is my honour to welcome the newest edition of the Strathclyde Law Review into the legal world. This edition is part of the 4th Volume of the publication and by this time its name has become established in multiple institutions and firms throughout Scotland and the rest of the world. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this particular edition is filled with legal and socio-political articles with border-breaking, international perspectives.
As the world becomes more connected, the interest of the individual switches focus from one that is local to one that encompasses every inch of the Earth. As a result, the worldβs conversation has changed. Today, it is possible for a crisis in the South China Sea or a presidential power struggle to be as well-known as an issue in the local council.
Consequently, geopolitical issues have become the norm and so it is no longer sufficient to simply limit one's perspective to within the confines of one's back garden. My experience as a QC has set as a constant reminder of the need for a variety of perspectives. A singular interpretation of a story can fundamentally change what is perceived to be true. As the world continues to develop, the need to cultivate nuanced, informed discussion and debate is now greater than ever before.
Volume 4 Issue 1 of the Strathclyde Law Review continues the proud tradition of other esteemed legal publications in growing the legal conversation beyond existing limitations.
This year the Strathclyde Law Review has built on previous successes to become one of the largest student Law Reviews in the country. As interest in this publication continues to grow, it gives me great pleasure to help the Strathclyde Law Review continue its trajectory on the path of achievement and innovation."
