📣 ACCELERATOR OPPORTUNITY! 📣

A new flagship four-month social sciences student and alumni accelerator hosted by LSE to support and scale socially-responsible student and alumni ventures is now open for applications‼️

Up to twenty UK selected university student and alumni enterprises, all of whom are solving pressing socio-economic and environmental issues, will collaborate and develop their businesses over the a four-month period. The new online accelerator brings together students and alumni from across the Aspect community (a network of Universities that support innovation, entrepreneurship and research commercialisation in social sciences)

Businesses must:

🔹Have a background in social sciences (we also encourage those with businesses whose models and processes are rooted in social sciences to apply).
🔹Be impact driven and align to at least 2 UN SDG goals
🔹Have recently launched and be less than 2 years old
🔹Be pre-seed or seed-round only
🔹Be pitch ready
🔹Places are open to up to maximum two team members.

📣⏱ It’s time again for one of the most exciting PGR events of the year: Three Minute Thesis (3MT)! ⏱📣

3MT is an academic competition for research students which challenges them to present their research to a non-specialist audience in three minutes with the use of only one slide 😱 It’s a great opportunity to develop and improve public engagement skills including public speaking, communicating complex ideas, and adjusting presentations to your audience 😎

The Heats were held in March, but the finals had to be postponed...until now!

Join us Thursday 2 July 2020 from 3:00-4:30PM for some bite-sized learning ‼️

13 finalists will compete for the chance to move onto the U21 Three Minute Thesis Competition. They’ll also be competing for some fabulous prizes: The overall winner of the competition wins a £1000 travel/research grant, while the runner up wins a £500 travel/research grant, and the People’s Choice winner will receive a £100 voucher 🏆🥳

Are you a social scientist with innovative research ideas that could be developed into a business or social enterprise? Achieving societal impact from research is difficult and time-consuming, and social enterprises could be key to unlocking your idea’s potential.

Come along to our first Valentine's matchmaking session to find out about working with researchers from different disciplines to support your idea, and to understand more about Success - the opportunity to access entrepreneurial skills, training, and the chance to win £50,000 for social science researchers employed by the University of Glasgow who are interested in turning their bright ideas into business or social use.

This event is organised with ASPECT – a platform for entrepreneurship and commercialisation of the Social Sciences in partnership with LSE, University of Manchester, University of Oxford, University of Sheffield, Glasgow University, University of Sussex and Cardiff University.
