A huge congratulations to Kaska Sypek and Abdul Wadood Sharif who were awarded Strathclyde Medals at the recent award ceremony. The ceremony was held on Tuesday 18 August in The Barony and was hosted by Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen McArthur.
Kaska was presented the 'Individual Award for outstanding contribution to the success of the University of Strathclyde and for demonstration of the University Values'
"Kaska has been recognised for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. She has provided exceptional support and guidance to the students playing a key role in the success of the University MSc programmes, championed staff development, recognised as generous and supportive and collaborative colleague. She led important work to widening access to engineering and improved diversity within profession. Kaska has driven improvements in teaching, assessment and educational scholarship benefiting students and colleagues across Faculty of Engineering."
Abdul achieved a 'Team Award for outstanding contribution to the success of the University of Strathclyde and for demonstration of the University Values'
"Abdul was part of the Self-Assessment team behind the success of the recent Race Equality Charter awarded by AdvanceHE which involved a tremendous effort from representatives from across the university. The team have gathered a variety of perspectives and data from individuals and systems throughout the university to inform the ambitious 5-year action plan at the heart of the charter. This plan aims to address various aspects of race inequality observed across the university including student degree-awarding gaps and staff career progression."
