This week, 12–16 October, your Full-Time Officers have:

🔴 Supported Show Racism the Red Card and Wear Red Day.
💬 Helped coordinate a Staff and Students Assembly to discuss strike action and its impact on education.
🤝 Attended and supported a Black History Month careers event.
✅ Had their team and individual objectives approved by Student Voice.
🏆 Started planning for the Glasgow Taxis Cup and supported our sports clubs.

Your learning, your support and your student experience matter.

We’re deeply concerned about the ongoing dispute between GCU and campus Trade Unions as the University’s Programme for Change continues. Staff are central to your university experience, and we recognise the dedication and care they bring to supporting you.

We’ve raised concerns directly with the University Executive about how proposed staffing reductions could affect teaching, courses, access to support and workloads for remaining staff.

We’re calling for transparency, meaningful student consultation and protection of the student experience. In line with the policy approved by Student Voice, we strongly oppose compulsory redundancies. We’re also lobbying for travel compensation for students affected by industrial action.

Your voice needs to be part of these decisions. Attend meetings we organise with the University to ask questions and share your concerns.

Looking to get involved outside of your uni classes? GCU has so many sports clubs to choose from, with training sessions, competitions, socials and nights out to get involved in throughout the year.

Whether you’re already sporty or just fancy trying something new, there’s something for everyone!

Head over to the Students’ Association website to explore the sports clubs available and find one for you.

And don’t forget about the Sports Ball at the end of the year a chance to celebrate all the amazing achievements across GCU sport! 🎉
